If you pick up your packet on Saturday, you must still check-in on race morning! 60k Snow Course Notice: Due to lots of snow and ice on part of the Grunt loop, the 60k will be a shortened snow course—around 34 miles. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This is a fun, low-key event on and around the Peterson Ridge hiking and mountain biking trail near Sisters, Oregon. So, bring a great sense of adventure, and you’ll enjoy it! To stay true to the low-key vibe of the event, dogs are allowed in the 30k race (Sorry, no dogs in the 60k). Both races will start and finish at the Sisters Middle School. There are two distances in the event: 30k (18.6 miles) and 60k (37.2 miles). This race is a fundraiser for the Sisters High School Cross Country team. Many of the volunteers will be cross country team members (witnessing what they will be competing in within 10 years). The 60k is part of the Oregon Trail Ultra Series.
Start Times 60k run starts at 8AM (early start 7AM) and the 30k run starts at 9AM.
The Course The 60k is mostly trail with some dirt road sections. The first third is gentle uphill, middle third is rolling with a few short “grunt” sections, and the final third is gentle downhill, making for a fast finish. Mud is very likely, and snowy sections are possible. The 30k is gentle uphill for the first half, and gentle downhill for the second half. Upon reaching the ridge, there are beautiful views of many of the Central Oregon Cascades peaks. For course map, click here. Course conditions, click here (will most likely be updated and current one week BEFORE the race, multiple updates if the conditions change within the week).
Aid Stations and Drop Bags There will be 6 full aid stations in the 60k (plus one water-only), and 4 aid stations in the 30k, located approximately every 3-6 miles. For the 60k, you can leave drop bags for AS 3 (water only) and AS 6 at the start line on race morning. Aid stations will serve water, Gatorade, Coke, fruit, potatoes, candy, chips, etc., plus doggie water and doggie treats for the 30k race (sorry, no dogs allowed in the 60k).
Post Race We will have a post-race BBQ consisting of burgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs, chips, salads, pop, etc., starting about 11:30AM, with an awards ceremony about 12:30PM for the 30k. Awards for the 60k will be given as those runners finish. All participants will be able to shower in the Sisters Middle School locker rooms, bring your own towel and shower stuff!
Awards For both races, top 3 overall women and men, and first masters man and woman. Also, first place dog in the 30k race.
